I am/was a visiting black belt. The facilities are excellent. One of the best workout floors Ive ever fallen on. Master Onsager (head instructor) has the most organized curriculum for self-defense/martial arts Ive seen. Im very impressed with the other instructors and most importantly - excellent students - good, clean technique which is the true measure of a an instructor - not how well they do - but how well their students do.

Black Knight is the Martial Arts School that I didn’t know I needed and am extremely glad that I found. Nils Onsager has established a culture focused on self-awareness and improvement that is reflected in every class and extends into our daily lives. Since joining the school in October 2016, I have become much more intentional about my development. As result, I have seen physical improvements including regained flexibility, increased muscle definition and losing over 30lbs. Additionally, being in the presence of other achievers motivated me to apply for a very competitive Masters Degree program in Financial Engineering. I have since been accepted and began taking classes in January. I didn’t think I would be studying either area of focus (Hapkido or Grad Level Finance) at nearly 40yrs old with two children and a full-time career. But, being in class with fellow students ranging from age 18 to 75, has given me renewed understanding of how irrelevant age is. If you’ve ever thought, I should consider looking into a martial art, I strongly recommend that you come check us out.

We love Black Knights. Our 7 year old has been taking martial arts lessons since last fall. I have seen a marked improvement in his coordination and stamina which always makes me happy. He loves to go and is excited when it is BK day. We have also noticed that his demeanor has improved as well. He is much more respectful in the way he speaks to everyone. I highly recommend it.

I love Black Knight Martial Arts! My daughter and I have been going for a few months now. They are very family oriented and fun. The skills we are learning are very practical and I feel better knowing my daughter is learning to defend herself. I am getting a good workout as well as great self confidence. I highly recommend Black Knight if you are looking for a martial arts school.

Both of my kids have attended Black Knight regularly for the past couple of years and it has been a positive experience that I would definitely recommend to other parents. Its a great, fun way for kids to build skills in discipline, exercise, and self defense in a structured environment. The staff is all very friendly and personable, and they recognize that each student is different, has different needs, and is motivated differently. They show a sincere personal interest in meeting these needs for each individual student. The facilities are comfortable and conveniently located. Highly recommended!

I first walked into a Hapkido class sixteen years ago with no prior martial art experience. The main reason I have kept coming back to class and training is because of the fantastic culture that Grand Master Nils Onsager established at Black Knight Martial Arts. The school is inclusive, diverse, and provides a unique engaging, friendly, and safe environment to practice Hapkido. In addition, the facility is amazing and the curriculum regularly evolves so that I always feel challenged to progress. The health benefits of practicing Hapkido have been very tangible for me, both mentally and physically.

Having had no experience whatsoever prior to attending these classes, I was intimidated to sign up to say the least. But what the instructors do so well here is to help you along the way with a tremendous sense of patience and help tweak your technique until you feel as if you could properly defend yourself should the occasion call for it. Even though I am surrounded by people far better than I, there is no sense of ego here, and every last person is encouraging and supportive which makes coming back weekly something to look forward to, not to mention the most fun and beneficial form of exercise you will get. I never leave a class without a smile on my face and thinking to myself how much fun that hour was along with a great feeling of self confidence; Black Knight is without a doubt one of the best classes you can attend in Atlanta. Two thumbs way up

My children have had the best experience at Black Knight. We are on our third year in the youth program for my 9 year old son. The instructors are energetic and passionate about teaching Hapkido to the children and the owners really understand what is important to the parents in a youth program - building respect, discipline, self-esteem and self-defense skills. We have participated in the summer camps, sword fighting contests, parents night out and birthday parties. We love this place and recommend it highly!

My 10 year old daughter absolutely loves learning Hapkido at Black Knight Martial Arts. For several years, she had been resistant to the idea of learning karate, but she fell in love with the instruction, especially since shes discovered friends among the other girls in her classes. I had studied Japanese martial arts for eight years and knew what I wanted in a studio for her: a practical system of self-defense, an art form that required self-discipline and personal responsibility (and good behavior in school!) from its students, and a system of clearly delineated levels of achievement. I highly recommend Black Knight to other parents.

I wanted to pass on an interesting value of the training you provided to me.I was having a health issue which led me to lose control and pass out. Iwould fall. Thank you for making mebe precise and persistent.I am sure that so many people thank you but I wish to do so also. You havehelped this old man beyond what is amazing.

I would recommend Black Knight as a martial art program for any and all students, regardless of size or gender. The instructors understand the limitations of different body types and provide unique self-defense perspectives. Particularly as a small-statured female student, I appreciate the emphasis on self-defense techniques that I could use on bigger people. The BK program has given me a self-confidence and self-awareness that I find myself using in most aspects of my life. The advantages arent limited to just physical fitness!

Facilities are very clean, classes are fun and challenging, the instructors are approachable and very willing to share their knowledge, and my classmates are helpful and energetic. BKM has done a great job of creating a family oriented feel to the place. I wish they had a new comers orientation to help understand the fundamentals and why we do a lot of the traditional things we do in class. Otherwise, this place is excellent. Id definitely send my kids to this place if I had some!

Black Knight has been an awesome place for our son to learn martial arts. He has improved so much since he started a couple of years ago. The regular belt tests give him something to work toward and he has been proud of his accomplishments. All of the instructors have been very patient with him (something he requires a lot of!) and are very good with kids of all ages.

I am the kind of person that when I did try to go to a gym, I would go for a few weeks and then get bored or frustrated at my progress and quit. I have been going to Black Knight for several years and since I started dropped about 50 pounds and seen my daily energy level raise dramatically. The instructors are all interested in helping each person improve both physically and in the art. There is always a new technique to interest and push you to push yourself to the next level. The classes are structured such that everyone from a senior student to a person taking their first class is challenged at their own level of physical fitness and in technique. I would, and have, highly recommend Black Knight to friends and coworkers.

Excellent school with very knowledgeable teachers. As an adult student in the Traditional program (there is another program called Comprehensive), you are taught Hapkido from a forest and not the trees perspective, which I love. I cant say enough good things about the way this school is run, the instructors and the content. So glad I found this place.

My son started classes at Black Knight Martial Arts 3 1/2 years ago at the age of 5. I enrolled him in Hapkido to help build his confidence and self esteem. At 8 years old, my son is now more confident in school and his after school activities. I have been very impressed with the professionalism and skills of the owners and all of the instructors. I moved to Douglas county a year ago and we still make the drive to attend classes at Black Knight. We have had a very positive experience and look forward to watching my son reach his goal of obtaining his youth black belt in Hapkido.

Excellent staff and facility. High ratio of advanced black belts to students. Many classes have multiple black belts helping with drills and instruction. They are very patient and understanding of your physical limitations and are careful to instruct without using the newbie as a practice dummy, important for me being overweight and not in the best shape.

I must admit that I had my reservations about beginning Hapkido at Black Knight Martial Arts 3 years ago at 72 years of age. I wondered if I could keep up with the program, fit in, and most of all I wondered if I would enjoy it. Happily, after 3 years, Im enjoying this activity more that ever. I elected to participate in the slower paced Traditional program and have enjoyed the many benefits of Hapkido. My weight and blood pressure have stabilized and I feel great. Grand Master Nils Onsager and his staff are fantastic and you progress and learn at your own pace. Hapkido is great for the body and mind as well as practical self-defence. At 75 years of age now, I figure to keep on training for at least the next 15 years.

Hands down, Black Knight is one of the best martial arts schools you might ever hope to find. Every aspect of this school has been carefully considered, every class planned and prepared, all the is dotted and ts crossed with the precision of a samurai sword. Or whatever the Korean sword equivalent might be.The instructors are all super knowledgeable and attentive, and every class has a purpose, following a well-planned curriculum that trains students not just to be excellent martial artists but also good people. There is a strong encouragement for everyone to see in themselves the potential to earn a black belt (and beyond) - just to keep coming in day after day, chipping away at the parts of our bodies and minds that keep us from realizing that potential. A black belt is just a white belt who never gave up is one of the motivating themes of the school.Beyond the excellent instruction, the facility itself is top-notch. There are several training rooms, which accommodate all of the students training in any given class. There are loads of training dummies, bags, pads, and other equipment. The floor in the main training hall is the best of any school Ive seen, like training on a cloud (great for taking falls!).All in all, if you (or your child) are sincerely interested in learning martial arts, getting fit and physically strong, developing confidence, making friends, and having fun, then you will do very well by coming to Black Knight.Ive trained at a dozen or more different martial arts schools over the past ten years, and in all honesty, this school takes the prize. I very sadly had to move away from Black Knight recently, as I relocated for a job. But whenever Im back in Atlanta, Ill forever stop by BK to train!

Our family has been with Black Knight for many years. Not only have my children learned many valuable skills, they have learned to be better people for being students at Black Knight. They have learned to have discipline, respect, and integrity as part of the culture at Black Knight. The programs are very good and are age appropriate. I am especially impressed with the teen program. It is very important to my daughter as a place where she can be herself, work hard, make progress towards her goal of becoming a black belt. We are so fortunate to have found Black Knight and we recommend them without reservation.

We love Black Knight Martial Arts (BKMA)! Both of our kids attend - 1 in the Little Ninjas program and one in the youth program. The kids have a blast in their classes and always come out sweaty! Along with getting a good workout, they are learning self-discipline and self-protection, both of which we greatly value. In addition to the classes, BKMA offers a Parents Night Out every couple of months, Samurai sword tournaments (with foam swords) and many other fun gatherings. Its quickly becoming our home away from home. Were so thankful to have the awesome teachers and lessons in our lives, and we recommend BKMA to everyone!

Im glad to have found a school with students and instructors that train hard and like to have fun in a relaxed atmosphere. Hapkido is a martial art that teaches students to remain relaxed and fluid but quick and powerful when necessary, and this dojang embodies that mentality. The instructors do a great job making sure people of all different athletic abilities and fitness levels get a satisfying workout safely. After having trained in a Tae Kwon Do program in New Jersey for many years, Im happy to have found a school here in Atlanta with the same focus on excellence.

Black Knight Martial Arts is a wonderful place. The instructors are very friendly, and they are very knowledgeable. There are programs for all age groups. Special topic classes are also offered which include: Womens Self Defense and Bullying Prevention.Black Knight offers two choices for Hapkido. You can choose the Comprehensive Hapkido if you are looking for intensity and a good workout. You can choose Traditional Hapkido if you want to focus on the philosophical aspects of the art. Either option will immerse you Hapkido. Overall, they promote having fun, and I encourage anyone to give it a try.

I became familiar with Black Knight Hapkido about 4 years ago when I enrolled my children in the little Ninja Program. We continue to have an exception experience with this organiztion.About a year and a half ago I realized that the facility offered a Traditional Hapkido Class that coincided with my sonss classes and decided to join myself. This program has changed me in many ways:First of all...I am 60 years old and I can fully participate in all of the elements of the Traditional classes. There is a wide range of ages represented from pre college to 70 year olds. The stress relief I experience from both the physical and mental practice of this art is changing the way I feel and think. I am much more positive and confident now that I have begun to reap the benefits of the program. These are unique classes because they offers direct contact with very high level practitioners. This personal attention from caring and competent instructors create a comradery that I really enjoy.I recommend this organization and specifically the Traditional program to people of all ages that want to improve their lives in significant ways.
