Cumberland Academy of Georgia equals educational hope for parents of students with an ASD. Debbi Scarborough’s vision is a testament a child with ASD could thrive in the right academic environment. Thus, leading to a future where students could obtain a high school diploma, attend a college or university, drive a car, and become independent adults. I love the fact Cumberland’s teachers strive to meet students where they are in their academic journey. The objective is to bring out the best in each student. However, there is emphasis for the student to try. For the first time, I have witnessed my son’s confidence and enthusiasm about school. To me, that speaks volume.Although Cumberland Academy offers many programs to foster its students, nothing exceeds the parent-teacher partnership. The true outcome occurs when all parties work together to make the student successful. We each have to keep in mind there is not a catch all for success. It will look different for each student. Also, it requires a lot of patience and work from everyone. Variations and challenges will occur as we strive to give our student the best education he or she deserves.I am looking forward to the ongoing relationship we are building with Cumberland Academy of Georgia. Cumberland Academy has been a game changer for my son and our family. My only regret is not enrolling him sooner. This school truly enables our children.

The headmaster and some of the other teachers were rude to me and a student was doing something inappropriate in front of me and I was to blame for it by Mrs McGuire. I would never come it’s a waste I, tried my hardest here as a student and I got nothing in return, all the headmaster wanted to give me was just a certificate and all the other kids diplomas.

Cumberland Academy of Georgia has been a God send for my granddaughter! She has flourished, regained her confidence in her ability to perform & excel in academics. The staff is dedicated, hardworking and devoted to the craft of teaching students with disabilities. I love the curriculum and incorporation of extra curricular activities.

My son has thrived in this nurturing and creative school. The small class size and individual attention is an excellent model for kids with ASD. The teachers and staff are committed to not only academic success, but also the growth, happiness and maturity of each student. The parents provide a wonderful support system as well. My son loves Cumberland Academy of Georgia. We moved from out of state so he could attend this amazing and supportive school. The teachers get to know their students well and teach to their learning styles. My son also takes part in a lot of the sports, clubs, and extra curricular activities. After years of fighting school systems for an appropriate education for my son, we have finally found it at Cumberland.

My son has attended Cumberland Academy for two years and it has been a wonderful experience. We were desperately looking for a school that met the needs of his high academic performance and social skills challenges. Cumberland was the solution. The staff is highly trained, the curriculum is adequately challenging and is designed to meet the needs of individual students. There are fantastic school activities and field trips as well. We cant say enough wonderful things about Cumberland Academy. Its been a lifesaver for our son.

I went to Cumberland Academy of Georgia for a total of five years. On Thursday, May 16th, I graduated from high school. During my experience here, even though some of the students were rude and disrespectful, I made so many great friends. Thank you Cole, Alec, Cameron, Saskia, Jackson, Matthew, Alex, Camille and Myah for being part of my nine best friends at the end. Even the teachers I met here were very helpful, even when I would get upset with them after a certain type of situation. To Mrs. Scarborough, Mr. Long, Ms. Nikki, Ms. Val, Ms. Ross, Mr. Downs, Mrs. Fineman, Mrs. Bishop, Mrs. Mensing, Mrs. Liang and everyone else who worked at Cumberland, you have always been so supportive of me and everyone else here at Cumberland! The school is phenomenal for my child, teachers are engaged and caring, she has excelled and has grown confidence. I would highly recommend this school
