I must say I am highly impressed with Kumon and Sheila at the William Cannon/Mopac south location. On out initial visit my daughters reading and math skills were was assessed. I was informed that her reading and math skills were not where they needed to be for her age/grade level but not to worry because with Kumon, shell exceed in her reading and math far beyond her age and grade level. So I enrolled her in their program. Wow ,were they right! Its been about 9 months now and my daughter is excelling in both math and reading and also her writing skills are so much better. I regret not enrolling her in Kumon earlier. I was buying workbooks on my own and having her practice her math and reading skills a lot. But even with my teachings she was only comprehending so much. We went through 5 (thick) practice books we bought at Barnes and Noble and although she was doing well ( I thought), I still felt like she needed more practice.What I really like about Kumon is the students actually understand the work theyre being taught. What I mean by this is they arent just memorizing flash card math questions and vocabulary words, they are actually understanding why 3+4=7, and the difference between blue and blew. When I ask my daughter why is 9+7+16, she tells me Because daddy if I have 9 apples and you give me 7 more apples, now I have 16 apples! Remember my daughter is only 5 yrs old. She didnt learn this by memorizing flash cards like so many kids nowadays do. She learned this from visualizing, and correlating the illustrations on her Kumon worksheets of a kid with 9 apples in his basket picking up 7 extra apples. Now the illustration shows the kid with 16 apples in his basket. So now my daughter understood why the answer is 16 apples. On to her reading, Kumon doesnt have them memorize vocabulary words via flash cards etc. They have illustrations and examples of the color blue ( Heres a blue crayon), and illustrations and examples of the word blew (The wind blew his hat off his head).Now my daughter clearly understands and recognizes the differences and meanings of the two words that sound identical but mean two different things.(Blue and Blew).Your child will be assessed throughout the program to make sure he/she is academically where he/she needs to be. Whats so awesome is once theyve master a level theyll receive a certificate of Proficiency for that level and then move on to the next level. So your Childs accomplishments are rewarded just like a ribbon for winning a race etc. Once your child sees their certificate of proficiency, itll naturally make them want to learn and earn another one!My daughter is so excited that she can read now. And as a parent theres no better feeling than seeing your child be successful and excited about academics. I was doing dishes in the kitchen and told my daughter its time for her to do her Kumon math. I handed her the math booklet and I swear within 3 minutes she handed it back to me and said Im done daddy! I couldnt believe how fast she finished the work sheets. I said Are you sure these are correct, you did them awfully fast. She then said Just check it daddy! Wow was I surprised and shocked. She got them all correct! The other thing that shocked me was how confident she was in her ability knowing shed gotten them all correct. It was like she was challenging me to prove her wrong, to find a mistake. But I couldnt. She was right, she got them all correct.I could go on and on about my satisfaction with the Kumon program and instructor Sheila for her guidance and teaching. But Ill stop here for now. I highly encourage all parents to enroll your child in Kumon. Thank you for your time and patience in reading all this lol.

I have always had positive experience with Kumon. Both my kids go there, and they have fun experience working with the staff who are really friendly and always willing to help. Being a full-time working parent, I don’t always get the time to sit with my kids to help them practice math or reading. But knowing that Kumon is there to take this task off my shoulder provides a big relief. Thank you, Kumon, for teaching all the kids.

Kumon is not the place for filling of a pail but the lighting of fire. I guarantee that Kumon will spark the brain of your kids. All the tutors in South Austin Kumon Ms. Sheela, Ms. Usha and others inspired my kids and they are not only the teachers but awakener. I am proud to say that both my kids started their education at the great place. My elder daughter is in Kumon for past 5 years and I can see how Kumon helped her in growing her skill set in both Reading and Math. There is no words to express my thankfulness.
