We truly love NCA. Why? The small class sizes, the focus on the whole child, the very reasonable tuition and the way the teachers really take the time to get to know and work with our child. We had the opportunity to leave NCA for a while, to explore what we were thought would be greener pastures in Chicago schools -- only to realize, NCA is really the best place to be. We are thrilled to have our son here. An added bonus: the academics even align with our familys focus on social justice and the student body really reflects the diversity present within Chicago and our world.

Good community. Did this under a screen name, but this place gave me happiness for a long time. Very loving and graceful community. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to grow up in. I graduated last year, and it was a great ride. The teachers helped me prepare for high school, and the principal and assistant know what they’re doing. If you would like a great place to send your child, this a great choice. You won’t regret it.

If you are new, great kindergarten class! Great school! We were new to NCA, enrolling a second grader and kindergartner. And yes, we worried about how our kids would transition to a new environment and new school. But our kids loved it! The biggest positives I noticed are:1. the school is organized (no surprises)2. the teacher-parent communication (again, no surprises)3. the well-rounded curriculum4. the diverse student body5. the focus on faith

A wonderful, warm school; I was so glad I was able to send my son to kindergarten there. The classrooms are small, and there are two teachers per K classroom. The teachers are supportive and communicative, even through the summer. They truly care about their students.

After terrific experiences in preschool and kindergarten, were excited for our son to begin first grade at NCA. We originally found the school while searching for a local full-day preschool program, and we realized right away it was where we wanted him to be through eighth grade. Caring and accessible teachers, a strong focus on academics, an emphasis on social justice, and a truly wonderful and welcoming parent community. The summer camp program is a bonus, too. So glad to have this school in our neighborhood.

Besides the amazing community, staff and education that our son receives at NCA what we love most is the fact our son loves attending. He wakes up everyday in a good mood excited to attend school. We are very pleased with the STEAM initiatives, FUNdraising activities, athletics, and extracurricular programs that continue to be implemented in the school for the better. And since we are not from Chicago, not only has our son made life long friends, we have too thanks to NCA. We love being a part of NCA.

We are starting our 9th year with Northside Catholic Academy and once again are reminded of the incredible community that we are blessed to be a part of. From the beginning of preschool until present, our kids have felt happy and eager to go to school each day - this is in large part to a friendly, inclusive environment and kind, engaging and empathetic teachers. They have benefitted from the range of arts, music and language “specials” classes in addition to a solid core curriculum. Mainly, students experience an opportunity to interact and engage with a diverse group of kids in a nurturing, diverse, progressive faith based school. A very active parent group is also a plus!

Used to be a great school. Unfortunately, the current principal is running it to the ground. My son has been going there since Kindergarten up until 4th grade. We are so so happy to be out of there. The admin seem much more concerned about the image of the school than the interest of the children. And I couldnt leave without addressing the multiple issues so many parents have with the music teacher - which was always addressed in a very wishy washy manner. She should not be teaching little kids. She is verbally abusive and instigates conflicts. Parents beware...

We are very lucky to be a part of this amazing community. My husbands family grew up attending St. Gertrudes but I was coming in cold and didnt know many of the families. I couldnt have been more welcome when my son entered preschool and am proud to say that many of my closest friends are parents I met through the school. We also have a lot of families who arent as lucky as we are to have their own family close by and they often comment how NCA has become their local family. Whether it be picking up a sibling and bringing them over for dinner when we hear one of the other kids is sick, or handing down school jumpers from one family to another, these are daily occurences at NCA. And there are so many opportunities to get involved and meet the other families at the school, whether at a family dance in the St. Gertrudes gym or volunteering on the schools annual fundraiser, if you want to be involved and meet people you will be welcome with open arms. And finally the school has proven to be a fantastic teaching environment for our two young ones. My sister is a public school teacher at a top school in Denver, Colorado and we are using much of the same curriculum. Our kids are thriving and the teachers are focused on their overall well-being. Please strongly consider our school. Come meet us and see what I mean.
