Upset Recovery training was not only insightful on how the aircraft can perform in hazardous attitudes but was made fun as well! I strongly suggest all pilots in the commercial industry or in training for it take the opportunity this program gives to become a better, safer pilot:) You will learn to recover from aircraft upset conditions and how to initially avoid getting into them. Thank you to everyone on their team for being amazing!

This week I spent two days in Mesa AZ with a highly professional organization, Aviation Performance Solutions (APS). The one thing that impressed me the most during those two days was this: there is a tangible love, enjoyment and passion from the entire staff for what they do.I spent most of my time with several of the instructor pilots. All of them have resumes that are the secret envy of all of us that grew up watching Top Gun. I mean, who did not want to fly jets and ride a Ninja after that? Former fighter pilots, in my limited experience, are a like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates, you never know what you will get. But in this case, without exception, the instructors are teachers with a deep passion for their craft. They have an incredible knowledge of aerodynamics, but I could read everything that they taught me from a book. So why did it make such an impression? I think it was the way that the message was delivered. The enthusiasm for the subject, aircraft upset recovery strategy, was infectious. And while my stomach did not agree, I was able to learn and feel like the experience was valuable.Who would have thought in a highly technical field that something squishy like love and passion makes all the difference? All of us are in the business of customer service. Our customers can feel from each encounter with us how passionate we are for our craft.

APS knocks it out of the ball park with URT in all manners. The staff, facilities, and training aircraft are extremely top notch as one would expect. The methodology and techniques that APS utilizes are very streamlined, and easy to comprehend and employ. In my opinion the URT offered at APS is indispensable to all pilots, regardless of overall experience, because it delves into that arena which we have all been taught to avoid, but never really taught to effectively deal with should we inadvertently arrive at that point.I did the basic program with the High Altitude add-on and thoroughly enjoyed the entire program. The instructors, (ground and flight), are crazy AWESOME with knowledge and stick skills, but most importantly their ability to instruct is among the best I have ever experienced in over 30 years of professional flying. Thank you APS for employing such great instructors. IMO they truly are the best of the best.

I completed the 4-Flight/5-mission Professional Pilot Upset Recovery Training Program. I’ve been an airline pilot for 25 years. It’s been that long since I operated any airplane beyond the pitch, bank, or angle of attack that we see in normal airline operations. This was great training to reestablish the skills to recover the aircraft should it depart those normal parameters that we see everyday. I had the honor of flying with “Slugg”. He is an outstanding flight instructor and a consummate professional in all regards. I found the entire team at APS to be very professional, friendly and efficient. I attended the training at their Arizona facility. They’ve got a great set up there. If its been a while since you’ve found yourself outside the “airline envelope” this is the training to get you back. You’ll be glad you did and it’s a lot of fun too. I cannot say enough about APS - from our initial booking of our “Flight of Your Life” through to landing, my fiancée and I were absolutely amazed at the level of commitment that all involved offered us to ensure that our day was not only memorable but a day we will never forget. It was always my dream to be a fighter pilot, specifically to fly with the Canadian Forces Snowbird team - now at 33 and working in the investment banking field, I am a long way from that dream - my flight with “DQ” though brought it as close to life as I believe it will ever get and to boot I learned in briefing that he had flown with the CF Snowbirds demonstration team... I am still in awe.My fiancée flew with “Weeble” whom was ever so kind and patient in helping to ease her initial nerves and in doing so provided her with a day that she too will never forget. We were treated like royalty throughout our visit and both checked off a bucket list experience that I will check off again and again in years to come with APS.Thank your DQ and Weeble for everything!DQ - if the Snowbirds ever need someone to fill an empty seat, I’m ready to go anytime!Thank you so much APS - we will see you again,Shane & Martyna
