The instructors at chic are very educated and skilled artists who have worked with celebrities, fashion week, and basically all areas. They are super fun and friendly and the learning experience reflects that. I personally learned so much taking their makeup course and would 100% recommend it to a friend!

The instuctors do a great job teaching advanced techniques, hygiene practices, industry standards, & important business aspects that one wouldnt learn (or learn as quickly) as a self-taught artist, or what you cant learn from YouTube. I also appreciate being able to pick the instructors brains & learn more about what they know (as working artists) was most important for students to understand in the business & industry overall.Students get hands-on practice in the classroom using real professional products/supplies and models provided by the school. The school also gives students a great makeup kit to both use in class & as a good starter kit for work. Another great benefit for students attending Chic Studios is the Chic Pro Community for Chic Graduates. As a recent grad myself, Ive already received a couple of opportunities from the Pro Community! If you show that you are serious about this career path and it’s not just a hobby, you will learn a lot and teachers are pretty hands-on. It is a fast-paced learning environment and missing 1 day can set you back by a lot. You have to buckle down and become a sponge. They’ve changed locations since I’ve graduated so I can’t speak too much on that. I visited once and it seemed to be highly professional and efficient.

Chic Studios is an excellent professional makeup school. The owner Amy, Chic staff and instructors are wonderful people to work with! They are all very knowledgeable (with many years in experience), friendly, and genuinely helpful when it comes to scheduling and teaching you how to master makeup techniques- ranging from airbrush makeup for bridal, TV/Film makeup, contour/highlighting, etc! In Chic Studios, not only would you get a plethora of makeup kits and many techniques to learn as a professional makeup artist, but also youd get frequent hands-on training, whether it be to practice your craft on models in the studio or go to events/shows to showcase what you learn in the classes. I love Chic Studios. The teachers are so informative and actually listen to your questions and opinions. They always give great constructive criticism without sounding rude, as many of the people taking these classes are on different levels (some are amateurs while others are a bit more advanced). The teachers also take their time with helping each and everyone of their students and giving each other them the personal time and care that they deserve, which I love!Not only that but Chic is such a great place to take pictures for photoshoots because the lighting in the rooms are AMAZING!So all in all I would give them a 5/5 and would HIGHLY recommend!

Loving how Chic has great mini tutorials on putting on make-up and introducing me to new products. The live feeds are fantastic and varied enough that I can pick up great “pro tips” along the way.

I was pleasently surprised with how clean and beautiful the aesthetic of the studio was. The funky decor and stellar organization makes the experience fun and pleasant. I occasionally come into chic to get pictures for my portfolio. I was quite surprised with how professional and skilled the students were at doing my makeup and hair! Since I am not from the United States and this was my first visit, I was so confused about where I could do the courses I was looking for. Having already trained in India, I was looking at a few advanced courses to better my skills. Right from the day I walked into the place, I was impressed. Christina gave me a warm welcome and was so helpful and courteous throughout the duration of my course. She was so prompt with responses to my emails, gave me a clear picture with regard to my course details, was patient with all the questions I had, the paper work was simple and was completed quickly with absolutely no waste of time.The school is so well equipped and so so hygienic. You learn everything the website tells you you will- there are no deviations and no short cuts, in fact, if theres something extra that you want to learn, they always try to fit it in if time permits.I was also lucky to meet Amy and she is wonderful as well!I could not have been happier with my choice of school.The instructors are fabulous and so knowledgeable. Amazing Makeup School in the perfect location. The actual classrooms and common spaces are very clean and modern. Chic Studios NY is awesome! My daughter took the 1-on-1 course in NY and had an absolute fantastic time. She learned so much from Frankie who was a great teacher with a super personality. Amy, Lauren, Christina, actually everyone there made Brooke, and myself, feel totally welcome. They answered all of our questions and helped a couple of small town girls feel comfortable staying in NYC. I highly recommend them and look forward to visiting when we are in the area again. Brooke is even looking at perhaps trying out the LA location for even more learning.

Absolutely amazing I love this place I graduated in September of 2017. I say this place cause I still go back there as much asI could. Chic studios was honestly one of the best decisions I ever made. If you are deciding between this and another school pick this one. Not only do you get to learn from someof the top instructors in this industry after you graduate you are then put in something called a chic pro community where you can stay connected to your amazing teachers and other graduates like myself. You can always ask questions freely and have somany amazing people there to help. They also help find you gigs paid and unpaid but you will always benefit from everything you do! I have got to work some amazing fashions shows including New York fashion week my work has been in Forbes magazine and on an app called perfect 365 and I got the chance to work all the major trade shows beauty con, comic con, Imats, the make up show and the international beauty show. I almost forgot to mention upon graduating my clientele has tripled. Now if I go on this will turn in to an essay but this is 100% the place you want to be!

DO NOT ENROLL HERE! Scammed my partner out of $4,000 after she unenrolled from their school due to an emergency. She requested her refund in November and it is now March. They refused to provide any documentation that the refund is being processed or on the way but keep giving false deadlines of when the refund “should” be deposited but it never comes. They also just attempted to send an echeck via PayPal and their bank declined their payment. This place has NO money to refund you after you pay. They will NOT refund you.

I was trained in Chic Studios NYC artistry and hairstyling by being timed to finished clients in under 30 mins. and working in high-pressure situations. I learned different techniques on how to manipulate different types of makeup for multiple uses. I also learned how to combat hotspots on camera as well as different types of makeup to use on film vs. photography.

Amazing vibe and instructors that really care and help you grow no matter what level you are. I couldnt be more impressed with the level of quality and knowledge at Chic Studios. Definitely a school you dont want to miss out on!

I attended in January of 2016 and I had the best time! In the 4 weeks that I was there, I learned about techniques, products, and application. I also learned about the business side of makeup artistry and the different avenues one can take in his/her career. Ive been modeling for Chic Studios for three years now, so Ive seen three years worth of students come in to Chic, and let me tell you this: the amount of talent that graduated from Chic Studios is INSANE. Of course, this is mostly due to how terrific the staff/instructors are at their jobs, but seriously, Im always seeing these men and women go on to lead successful MUA careers all thanks to Chic. Plus, the products they provide for their students makeup kits are to DIE for.

I am a professional photographer, who have been coming to Chic Studios New York City since they first opened in Dumbo. Though Chic has relocated to Manhattan’s Financial District since then, they have maintained and in my opinion continued to provide the best quality and services available to their students and staff. The first person, whom I met at Chic Studios was Christina Olivo, her smile is both warm and welcoming but don’t let it fool you. She is the backbone, brains, and personality who puts everything together here in New York City. Christina does not only manage and monitor the logistics of the business but she often goes out of her way by looking out for students and freelancers like myself. In general she is a perfect example of the corporate culture at Chic, which in my opinion is, approachable and always willing to help. The next group of individuals I met at Chic were the instructors. Though a few have changed over the years, chic continues to employ only the best Makeup Artist, Hairstylist, and Airbrush specialists New York City has the offer. These individuals are not only highly talented but have years of experience in their industries with the paperwork to back them up. Many have worked with/on award shows, celebrities, television personalities, an others high profile events. Though all are of the instructors are amazing a few that stand out to me are Ruthie Weems, Jonny Polizzi, Angelique Velez, and Tim Pearson these individuals are not only great at what they do but they do but are very approachable. They do what ever it takes to make sure their students understand what is covered. They even go as far as doing one-on-one with students that need extra help. Chic studios New York City is definitely the place for anyone who is thinking about entering the make up/ hair industry or just trying to learn how to do their own make up.
