I was a previous student of Libs beauty school in 2005. I completed my requested 1000 but due to personal reasons I never got my license. Fast forward to July of this year, I decided to go back & take my exams for my license. I met a wonderful woman name Kiara Williams who helped me every step of the way & walked me through the process. Thanks to her I will be taking my written exam this Monday & my practical Nov. 9. Kiara you are amazing & I cant thank you enough.

I am a new student at empire beauty and I loved it as soon as I entered. I went on various school tours and in comparison none of the other schools were as welcoming and diverse as empire!! Learning so many different textures and skin tones!!

I went for a haircut today and it was a disaster.The student assigned to me was very inexperienced and she called Mr. E the supervisor, for help several times, but he was just joking with other students around and didn’t supervise the work she was doing.It took her more than three hours just to cut my hair off.The student did the best she could but she was unable to perform the 90 degree hair cut I requested and I ended up with a lousy haircut.It is very sad because this has been for several years my favorite beauty place.

Ms K is very helpful in makes your application process very smooth. You won’t regret enrolling and completing cosmetology school here.

I’ve only been here for 3 days but I love it here! Everyone is super nice and they really know what they’re talking about. They help you with everything you need and want for your career but don’t take their kindness for weakness. They are strict because they want to see you succeed.

I registered for classes the same day I came for a tour with Mr.Flagg, he was so sweet, helpful and very understanding.The attendance gets a little wonky at times but they are always available to talk and sort out any mistakes.Overall it’s a good experience, if you’re thinking about joining you should!

I have always been into doing hair but never had time for Cosmetology school. With the pandemic I now have more time than ever. I researched a couple of schools before enrolling and Empire Manhattan was the most convenient in the time frame I set for myself. I may have explored other options if not for that. I have a great knowledgeable instructor that keeps education fun while placing emphasis on perfecting our technical skills and undertsanding theory. However,, I am an older professional thats seasoned at life.so My expectations are different from an 18 or 19 year old. Because of that there are some things to be desired as far as organization and professionalism an some instances. I am not a settler and I find myself doing that in response to the standards of their operation.May not be the fanciest digs in town but if you are dedicated and focused there can be something to gain from this place but definitely do your research. I have recently started my 4th module so I will keep updating as I go through the program.

1.Never got a graduation certificate ,never had a graduation ceremony and every time I call Mrs Jordon always had a different story.Stop talking and asking Mrs Jordon went to some other staff in there and I understand is mostly Mrs Jordon money was being use to keep up graduation ceremony etc.It is a disgrace and shameful to know you went to as they say high rated school in Manhattan and they got all there money and doing things halfway.Let me tell you I went to empire beauty school in Manhattan about what 3-4 years ago it’s all smiles and teeth’s you see when they want money but you see different spirits and a total different atmosphere when you start.All the big big bosses in there nice as ever and I am still waiting on my graduation ceremony and my certificate after what 4years .When am done praying I will speak to my lawyers concerning this ,you all got paid not for half way work,they even said there are opportunities for help to get work nothing. I did this course back in my country many new what to do but make me sign saying I will do it over .Didn’t know that my God run things and not man now I know,so for all who have ears let them hear don’t be fooled by this school,our ppl always say not everything that glitters is Gold .Pray and pray again and ask the Holy Spirit if this is the right school for you because there are powers that can’t be brought down until you have the gift of the Holy Ghost which is God power .My God power is more powerful more than any stick and stone.All those who have ear let them hear.This cosmetology course isn’t even paying money out there until you have clientele and line yourself up with destiny helpers.Trust and believe me when You enter in there is a whole different ball game and you have to be strong to finish winning.

I enjoy coming here and I am always excited to learn new methods and techniques. I didn’t expect making friends but so far I am loving my whole class, they teach me pointers as well. As far as the atmosphere, there’s always gonna be people who are better than others. Ms. Ghada is my teacher and she is the most sweet, patient, and lenient. Some people come experienced already so she’ll give you pointers but if you don’t have much experience, always ask for help and don’t be afraid to ask for help. As far as the money situation, it could have been better for me but they made it seem like I would get more money and ended up not getting much at all, even considering the fact that I’m unemployed. Overall experience, I am satisfied with where I am at and I’m looking forward to where I’ll go.

I love Miss Vicky’s class! She’s very hands on and informative. She keeps everyone engaged and on task. Financial Aid counselor Soraya went above and beyond for me and I am forever grateful. Everyone is very warm and will motivate you and keep you inspired!

Good mannequins and good products. Majority of the staff is professional and takes the time out to teach each student individually.If I could change or improve one thing about empire it would be for them to add a module about natural hair care and manipulation.

Started school in March 2020, began studying hair design. Course book & workbook are easy to follow along with practical training on mannequins. Instructor Miss Burns has a lot or experience and is very hands on helping each student individually as needed. Very excited about my next steps.

I started school right before the COVID 19 pandemic and had a great beginning experience however coming back from the pandemic break we suffered a lot of disadvantages for a beauty school. Such as not being able to work on clients, other students, or even our self. At one point we could not even eat or drink on the campus. I am now graduating and things are slowly but surely getting back to normal but I definitely didn’t get the experience I wanted here.

I just started school at Empire Beauty and have already learned so much. The teachers are kind, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The process of signing up was stress free and quick. Highly recommend!

Overall the learning experience is great. Ms.Stewart has been my teacher since I started and she is the best, she really teaches well and teaches in a way where it’s easy for you to understand as well. You really go on from this school knowing what to do and what you should know about cosmetology. They teach you a little bit of everything but they focus on hair mostly. Only thing that needs to be worked on is the communication between the staff and students when enrolling and further on.

I just completed my second week at Empire! Miss Kinslow is an amazing teacher who brings her knowledge and salon experience to every lesson! Everyone, from the admission staff to the custodial staff, are professional and seem to WANT to be there! I am excited to learn more and bring my knowledge into the industry upon completion!

Since starting here I learned that there’s more than one way of doing a perm and that you definitely have to know what you’re doing in this industry in order to make it. My teacher motivates us to do better than we did yesterday, and always gives us constructive criticism. You can tell that the staff here do what they love and love what they do, there’s no place I’d rather be.

Ive been trying to get to this location for a while now, and I finally made it. When I first came to New York, I visited the Empire Beauty School of Queens to get my hair flat ironed. It was a great experience and I enjoyed the student who finished my hair. So, when I decided to years later to get my hair re flat iron I knew I needed to check out the beauty school closer to my apartment in Harlem. the West 34th Street Building might be a little hard to find if you arent really looking for it. I didnt see any signs that said anything about the beauty school, I was actually across the street when I looked over at a building and saw there were hair dryers on the second floor. Once I scanned the street a little better I saw the giant 22 on top of a very dark and slightly confusing stair area. Once I walked over to the door there were multiple students who were talking about a hair job that they might have been doing for class. I knew I was in the right place instantly. Theres an elevator and stairs that lead up to the second floor. If you are someone who needs a wheelchair, this location might not be the best for you. The elevator is very small and opens awkwardly. One of the students does require a weird year though and she is able to use it greatly, just be aware of the size. The beauty school closes at 2 p.m. and reopens at 5:45 p.m. for their student salon and I arrived somewhere around 5:30. Though I was slightly annoyed at the 15 minute wait it wasnt a big problem. It took about 2 hours for my hair to be flat ironed, I guess I had extra length that I didnt know about, but it came out greatly. The student who did my hair, Rita, was a very nice person it wasnt too talkative. all of the students at the beauty school were also very kind and walked over every now and then to congratulate Rita on her amazing job. if youre coming to get anything done to your hair, the students have to wash it by New York law. Theres signs everywhere for that and the wash is about $9. All in all though its a great job for a really great price.

Here at Empire Beauty School things are great. Throughout the day your allowed breaks and an hour lunch that makes the day way less stressful. The teachers are all very patient with the students and have no problems giving one on one help to those in need. The bathrooms and building itself are always clean.

I would definitely recommend Empire. The atmosphere is very relaxed, my classmates are very helpful and supportive, which allowed me to network with my peers. My teacher, Ms. Vicky, goes above and beyond for us to make sure we can successfully get get our hours and obtain our licenses. I have learned so much about hair that will give me the tools to to make sure I maintain the health of my clients hair and be able to do diverse styles and hair types.

Empire Manhattan is a great school , I’ve been a part time student for a month so far my educator is phenomenal the staff is consistent and the opportunity they have for students are great especially when it comes to networking.

I’m mad at the fact that the students doesn’t wash weaves anymore BUT they do natural hair do to “C19”.

This school is a terrible school I attend this school and I am not satisfied with how they treat the students in the school I wouldn’t recommend this school for anyone to go to they are very unprofessional you’re not able to take any sick days off with out getting kicked out of school due to a 14 day rule which counts the weekends to the 14 days of missing this school, this school doesn’t or certain teachers in this school don’t always teach you what you need to learn there are some students who are currently learning on their own due to the fact that teachers aren’t doing there jobs it’s very un clean is just very unprofessional and not understand If I knew that this school was the way it was I wouldn’t have attended!! AND I HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND IT FOR NOBODY TO GO TO !!!
