My kids have been in the children’s program for almost 3 years and we love it there. They are so nurturing of a child’s development into the discipline. My sons are both very different people but the dojo’s teachers do well with each of them. Kim is also great at communicating with parents about all aspects of the program. I see my children maturing here and i couldn’t be happier.

This beautiful dojo & caring community which Yamazaki Sensei, Johnston Sensei and it’s members have created is a very special place.I believe their world-class instruction, positive support & attention to detail, has helped make me a better person. I have been able to improve how I manage the everyday stressors of life.If you want to begin an art with a martial & spiritual aspect, I recommend you drop in, take a class & join.

NY Eastside Aikikai is hands down the dojo to go to if you are looking for a place to train in Aikido. The members are supportive and all around really cool people. The teachers are superbly adept and accomplished. And Yamazaki Sensei is absolutely the teacher, with his 30+ years background and commitment to this beautiful, effective martial art, who you want as your mentor. Training here changed my life for good. Let it change yours too.

This place is a gem. The teachers and students are supportive and experienced. The huge training area in the dojo is also crazy, especially for the upper east side of manhattan. Couldn’t recommend this place more for aikido and general fitness any more.

I have been training in this dojo for 4 years and I can say that it is a great dojo, for all levels from first time beginners to advanced black belts, and also for children. We have a big matt with plenty of space to train. The number of students is not too large so we all know each other and everybody is happy to help in the learning. Another thing I like about this dojo is that we are careful at following the traditional Japanese etiquette. The main instructor (Ken Yamazaki) is a Japanese 5th dan black belt that has learned Aikido for several decades from very prestigious Senseis both in Japan and in the US. At present he (and other dojo members) receives training directly from 8th dan Yamada Sensei on a weekly basis, which keeps the technical quality of the teaching at the highest level.Aikido is a non-competitive martial art, which makes it very adequate for all ages and physical abilities.
