As a former member I can still say that Sensei Arto is the cream of the crop when it comes to teaching jiu Jitsu and the grappling arts

Have been training under Sensei Arto for over 2 years now. I have trained in many different martial arts dojos but I would have to say Arto has been my best teacher/sensei thus far. His understanding of the martial arts science and application is very impressive. Not to mention his nature of always developing drills to sharpen your skills and make learning the arts more understandable. Those drills really help people with learning disabilities like myself . A very hard worker and a man who believes in his students .

I have been training under Coach Art for several years now and the quality of his details and techniques are amongst the best of them. His explanation of fulcrums and levers in relationship to jiu jitsu really speed up the learning process. The gym has been a 2nd home for me and Coach Art has always been willing to share his knowledge and time. Boyle Heights was a community unknown to jiu jitsu and Academy of Martial Science has helped to put it on the map and to be a force to be reckoned with. I would highly recommend the gym to anybody... Children, women and men all welcomed! Tiahui!!!
